I spent my time here in Havana and Trinidad. Trinidad, with its immaculate colonial centre and rural outer, makes for a fascinating mix and I have to say I preferred the rural areas with friendly locals and wonderful scenery and farmland. Havana, though, was the star of the show.

Havana doesn’t disappoint with what are really clichés photographically but are irresistible nonetheless. The magnificent buildings which were left during the Revolution still stand but are not maintained and reveal beautiful colour and texture amongst decay. Then there are the American cars which are somehow kept running on a minimum of resources.

Finally, what makes Cuba are the people: there’s always a party with great music somewhere in a bar or just in the street. I’ve nothing but fond memories of Cuba.
